Pakistan vs England 2nd Test Betting: Flat wicket in Abu Dhabi suggests draw most likely

England’s top order batsmen failed to show up in the first test of the three match series with Pakistan in Dubai last week so they will be looking to fare much better in Abu Dhabi this week when they take on Pakistan again in the second test. Pakistan come into the test match leading 1-0 in the series and a win here will give them the series with a match to spare. They are 5/2 with Betfred to win this match.

The Sheikh Zayed Stadium will be hosting its 3rd test match this week. South Africa and Sri Lanka were Pakistan’s opponent in the first two matches here with both finishing in high scoring draws. Four scores of over 400 have been recorded in the two matches which plays out to the suggestion that this is very much a batsman’s paradise which will be hard work for the bowlers.

Pakistan are expected to go into this second test match unchanged. Their bowling attack all contributed in Dubai and Misbah will be hoping for the same here and although their batting line up didn’t all score runs as a collective they did the job and will get another go here. Umar Akmal could come in but that’s not expected.

England look set to be forced into one change with Chris Tremlett expected to be ruled out with a back problem. The age old question about England going with two spinners will pop up now with Monty Panesar ready to play but England are expected to stick to their three seamer approach and pick Steven Finn. Andrew Strauss and the rest of the top order will be looking to contribute a lot more in this test.

With the record of the batsmen on this ground I can’t see any other result than a draw. Saeed Ajmal took 1/167 in his last bowling innings here so he’s not guaranteed to run through England again and I expect England to be a lot stronger against him. As long as England’s batting line up turn up for this test match then I expect the end result to be a pretty tame draw, a result Pakistan will be very happy with.
