AGA Refuses to Back Rep. Barton’s Online Gambling Bill

Joe Barton’s (R-Texas) online gambling bill, dubbed the Internet Gambling Prohibition, Poker Consumer Protection and Strengthening UIGEA Act of 2011. They are planning on striking out on their own and crafting their very own federal online poker bill.
Frank Fahrenkopf, AGA’s CEO and President has stated that the organization’s bill is currently in the works. District of Columbia To Delay Online Gambling?

The Council has decided that September 8th, wouldn’t give the District’s residents enough time to object to the legalization of online gambling. I dont believe theres enough time to notify the residents and get feedback as to whether they want this thing in their neighborhoods, Council member, Evans said.
The bill, which made online gambling legal in the District, was submitted by Michael A. Brown, who added it to a supplemental budget bill. It

SCOOP Changes Revealed by PokerStars.com
Written by Adam Arthur on July 3, 2011 – 1:27 amPokerStars.com, a top poker online site has lately revealed that it has performed a few alterations in its forthcoming Spring Championship of Online Poker or SCOOP series of contests, owing to the current arraignments in the U.S. The most recent version of the SCOOP contest series will start from 8th of May, 3pm onwards, as per the UK time. PokerStars.com also disclosed that the complete assured cash prize, which amounts to $45 million, distributed among 38 three-set contests, has been lowered to $25 million, because of shortage of American players.
PokerStars.com, certified by Isle of Man, also announced that the commencement timings for the SCOOP contests will not be changed and now they will start three hours prior, so as to match with the British sleeping timings.
