The American Gaming Associations (AGA) has publically stated that they will not back Rep. Joe Barton’s (R-Texas) online gambling bill, dubbed the Internet Gambling Prohibition, Poker Consumer Protection and Strengthening UIGEA Act of 2011. They are planning on striking out on their own and crafting their very own federal online poker bill.

The District of Columbia was seemingly on the fast track to become the first to implement an online gambling system available to its constituents. The District was looking to launch on September 8^th. It looks like there may now be a delay.

The Council has decided that September 8^th, wouldn’t give the District’s residents enough time to object to the legalization of online gambling. I dont believe theres enough time to notify the residents and get feedback as to whether they want this thing in their neighborhoods, Council member, Evans said.
